Interior project for the jewelry and fashion brand MARIHA.
The brief was to renovate one room in a five-story office building, located in a quiet area about a four-minute walk from Harajuku station, into an office and showroom. The client, MARIHA, is known for its timeless designs and a minimalistic yet delicate style that carefully examines each material and silhouette while respecting the traditional themes of natural beauty in Japanese aesthetics: flower, bird, wind, and moon (花鳥風月).
As a place to express each collection, loved throughout the changing seasons, we decided to use the brand color’s of gold and Japanese oak as a base. To empower the interior elements while complementing the jewelry and summer dresses that take centre stage, we chose a gradation of similar colours for the floors, walls, ceilings, furniture and fixtures.
Many interior elements, including showcases, hangers, and furniture, were created specifically for this project. The wooden fixtures and furniture include tables and chairs we designed for Karimoku Case Study, with metal fittings by our long-time partner Super Robot.
In the area facing the street, there is a showroom, fitting room, VIP room and meeting room, with office space at the back. The different functions are logically connected with curtains and doors, and the zoning is designed to show and hide specific areas.
Opening in the spring of 2022, we hope this showroom will become a place that expresses the MARIHA brandʼs perspectives on the world in a gentle but passionate way.
